As part of the 11th Ukraïna! Film Festival, “Mariinka,” directed by Pieter-Jan De Pue, a co-production of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany from 2026, will be screened at Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe (Sala Lwów) on 29 November 2026 at 4:00 PM.
The film depicts eastern Ukraine long before the full-scale invasion. Its characters are young people whose lives have been shaped by the war in Donbas, which has lasted over ten years. As in a Greek tragedy, two brothers fight on opposite sides of the front, while the youngest grows up in an American foster family. The story explores identity, wartime paths, and divisions stronger than blood ties.
After the screening, there will be a meeting with Bartłomiej Gajos. The conversation will be moderated by Anna Ursulenko.
