À la chasse! – Chamber Concert as Part of the 25th Nationwide “Gwiazdy Promują” Festival

The chamber concert “À la chasse!” takes place as part of the 25th Nationwide “Gwiazdy Promują” Festival. Four horn players and a pianist will perform:

• Michał Szczerba - horn
• Ignacy Styba-Holajn - horn
• Mateusz Kubat - horn
• Darren Malgeri - horn
• Wioletta Fluda-Tkaczyk - piano

The program includes works inspired, among other things, by hunting and mountain landscapes:

• Nikolai Tcherepnin, La Chasse (from the collection 6 Horn Quartets) - an energetic, galloping, picturesque hunting scene full of vigor.
• Gilbert Vinter, Hunters Moon - a humorous story of a tipsy huntsman dreaming of the goddess Diana.
• Eugène Bozza, Sur les cimes - a piece with a mysterious atmosphere and expansive, lyrical phrases that paint a sonic landscape of mountain peaks.
• Robert Schumann, Adagio und Allegro - from melancholy to brilliant virtuosity. Clara Schumann, the composer's wife, described the work as “brilliant, fresh and full of passion.”
• Jean Françaix, Divertimento - each movement reveals a different side of the horn: the lively Introduzione, the melodic Aria di cantabile, and the playful Canzonetta. The variety of colors and the interplay between soloist and accompaniment make this work stand out.
• Paul Dukas, Villanelle - a nod to the tradition of Italian pastoral songs and historical natural horns. Dukas taught, among others, Messiaen and Duruflé.
• Trygve Madsen, Sonata for Horn and Piano - a work rich in thematic material, written in classical sonata form with a contemporary musical language, full of lyricism and verve.

The concert will take place on 10 November 2026 at 8:00 PM in the Ludomir Różycki Concert Hall at the Lower Silesian Philharmonic in Jelenia Góra.
