The Italian-style concert combines the most popular songs of Frank Sinatra with opera arias and film music. Opera singers from the Opera da Camera di Roma will perform, accompanied by a string quartet. Sinatra's songs will be heard in new operatic and jazz arrangements.
Frank Sinatra, an American singer and actor, was of Sicilian descent. His songs feature Italian melodies, often drawn from classical music, which is why the programme includes opera arias. The film music refers to the artist's contacts with the Sicilian mafia, which were never fully proven. The organisers want to transport audiences to the world of 19th-century concerts, when classical music meant to listeners what pop music means today.
The concert idea originated at opera houses in Rome. The programme is performed in concert halls of Polish palaces and castles, evoking the salons of the aristocracy. The acoustics of these venues are unusual, and their capacity is small. Frank Sinatra's musical biography premiered at Teatr Słowackiego in 2013 and was staged across Europe for many years. In its new form, it is part of a European concert tour in 2025 covering Berlin, Rome, Paris, Milan, Prague and Vienna. In Poland, it will be shown for the first time in this Italian edition.
