“Everest: The Other Side” is a 2026 National Geographic Documentary Films production (USA). It is directed by Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. It tells the story of two people bound by love, ambition, and the desire to achieve what seems impossible. The film follows one of the most dangerous and demanding high-altitude expeditions.
The protagonists are mountaineers and skiers Jim Morrison and Hilaree Nelson. They were united by love and a shared dream: to climb the north face of Mount Everest and ski down from the summit along one of the most dangerous and difficult routes.
Thousands of people have climbed Everest from the Nepalese side, via the southeast ridge. Only a few have reached the summit from the north, and no one has ever managed to ski down that route. Morrison and Nelson, already known for their mountain achievements, take on extreme risk to fulfill this dream.
