The Chopin Piano Duo and the Lower Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will perform, conducted by Marek Wroniszewski. The Chopin Piano Duo line-up: - Anna Boczar and Bartłomiej Kominek (students of the Kraków Academy of Music) – piano - Tomasz Widłak – piano - Patryk Pająk – piano - Maciej Jonczyk – piano Programme: - Peter Hope, Hollywood Concerto for two pianos and orchestra - Francis Poulenc, Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra in D minor, FP 61 - Ludwig van Beethoven, Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37 The piano concerto has long served as a space for creative dialogue with tradition. Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto blends classicism with romanticism: it keeps the classical form but deepens the relationship between soloist and orchestra. Its premiere in 1803 was rushed, and the score was not yet finished. Poulenc's Concerto for Two Pianos also looks back to Mozart, combining classicist elegance with influences from Balinese gamelan and 20th-century musical language. Peter Hope's Hollywood Concerto brings the concerto form into the world of cinema. It is a brilliant pastiche of the music of Hollywood's golden age and British light music, featuring virtuosic dialogues between the two pianos and spectacular orchestration.
