About this event
wROCKfest.pl invites you on February 4 to Stary Klasztor for the jubilee concert of NOCNA ZMIANA BLUESA. The most popular Polish blues performer, Sławek Wierzcholski, and the band he founded, Nocna Zmiana Bluesa, have achieved over 45 years of continuous activity (the only blues band of its kind in Poland!) what could be shared among a much larger group of artists. Twenty-eight albums released, recordings with American blues stars such as Charlie Musselwhite and Louisiana Red, and concerts supporting world-class blues legends like B.B. King and the Blues Brothers. Several thousand concerts in Poland and across almost all of Europe, in the USA, and even in Zimbabwe! Over 45 years, Sławek Wierzcholski and his band have created their own unique style, a fusion of blues, folk, jazz and original songwriting. Sławek Wierzcholski is a harmonica virtuoso and the author of two popular harmonica method books. Fun fact: he is the only person to have played the hejnał (bugle call) on harmonica from the tower of St. Mary's Church in Kraków, broadcast live on radio! The concert features the band's best-known songs and tracks from their latest album. Audiences can always expect numbers like “Szósta zero dwie,” “Blues mieszka w Polsce,” “John Lee Hooker,” and the sing-along “Chory na bluesa,” the high point of every show. Nocna Zmiana Bluesa concerts are a wonderful experience: plenty of energy and joy, but also reflection, combining years of experience with the youthful energy that the blues gives both musicians and listeners!
