Our Lot on Holiday in Egypt

The Optimists is a comedy about a family that goes on holiday to Egypt together for the first time. The script and direction are by Krzysztof Czeczot, director of the play Positive People. The cast includes:

• Hanna Śleszyńska / Violetta Arlak
• Karolina Gorczyca
• Piotr Cyrwus / Jacek Lenartowicz
• Marcin Korcz / Krzysztof Czeczot

The action takes place at one of the Egyptian resorts. Ewa (Karolina Gorczyca) has invited her parents, Kasia and Janek (Hanna Śleszyńska and Piotr Cyrwus), on an luxury holiday to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. The trip, however, turns out differently than she expected: Mum complains, Dad wears jeans despite the heat, and her husband Adaś (Marcin Korcz) takes advantage of the free drinks. Ewa tries to make it through to the end of the stay.

Since the holiday is all-inclusive, everything has to be drunk, eaten, danced and swum off, because after all, it's already paid for. A chart kept during the trip records what has been eaten, drunk, swum, danced or run off.

Krzysztof Czeczot says: “Over the past year I travelled around various resorts to see what goes on during all-inclusive holidays. I exaggerated the stories I saw quite a bit, so that this evening would be wonderful entertainment for our audience. I'm convinced everyone will have a great time watching a comedy like none they've ever seen in the theatre!”
