The Pospieszalskis' Carols is a concert by an orchestra made up of two generations of musicians sharing the same surname. In 1991, brothers Jan, Karol, Marcin and Mateusz recorded their first carol album. Some members of the current lineup were not yet born at the time. TVP broadcast the program from that album, and the band's carols became permanent fixtures on radio playlists.
Today the Pospieszalskis pursue their own projects, compose for other artists, and write songs, as well as larger works in jazz and classical music. Their credits also include film scores, television shows, and numerous concert projects.
The stage features a fifteen-member ensemble. Many musicians play several instruments, so the orchestra's sound is constantly evolving. The arrangements blend jazz, classical music, Polish folk, and big band. Solos, improvisations, and unusual instrument combinations refresh well-known carols and pastorals while preserving their original character. The concert is not a predictable, traditional carol service: moments of reflection and emotion are interspersed with spontaneity and humor. Audiences are also captivated by the family bonds and the atmosphere of making music together, which lets this large concert keep something of a home gathering around the instruments.
