Pospieszalski Christmas Carols is a concert by an orchestra made up of two generations of musicians sharing the same surname. Fifteen performers take the stage. The brothers Jan, Karol, Marcin and Mateusz recorded the first carol album in 1991, and some of the current performers were not yet born at the time. TVP broadcast the program from that album, and the group's carols have become permanent fixtures on radio playlists.
The Pospieszalski musicians now pursue their own projects and compose for other artists. They write songs as well as extended works in jazz and classical music. Their credits include film scores, television shows and numerous concert projects.
Many musicians play several instruments, so the orchestra's sound is constantly changing. Their arrangements blend jazz, classical music, Polish folk and big band. Solo passages, improvisations and unusual instrument combinations give familiar carols and pastorals a fresh feel while preserving their original character. The concert is not a traditional carol service: moments of reflection and emotion alternate with spontaneity and humor. The family bonds among the musicians make even a large concert feel like a home gathering around instruments.
