“The Optimists” is a comedy about a family that goes on holiday to Egypt together for the first time. The show is by the director of POZYTYWNI, who returns with a new comedy. The trip is all-inclusive, so the characters are determined to drink, eat, dance and swim it all up. Since it's paid for, nothing can go to waste.
On stage:
Written and directed by Krzysztof Czeczot.
The action takes place at one of the Egyptian resorts. Ewa (Karolina Gorczyca) invites her parents, Kasia and Janek (Hanna Śleszyńska and Piotr Cyrwus), on an luxury holiday to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. The trip, however, turns out differently than she planned. Mum complains, Dad wears jeans despite the heat, Ewa's husband Adaś (Marcin Korcz) takes advantage of free drinks, and Ewa herself tries to make it to the end of the stay. In the background, a scoreboard tracks what has been eaten, drunk, swum in, danced and run off. In hot Egypt, things are heating up.
Krzysztof Czeczot says: “Over the past year I travelled to various resorts to see what goes on during all-inclusive holidays. I exaggerated the stories I saw so that the evening would be wonderful entertainment for our audience. I'm convinced everyone will have a great time watching a comedy like none they've seen in the theatre before!”
