The jazz suite Ring and Scapular by Piotr Baron will be performed at the Filharmonia Dolnośląska (Sala Koncertowa im. Stefana Strahla) in Jelenia Góra. The Piotr Baron Quintet will perform, and the program includes a piece by Piotr Baron.
Band lineup:
The suite premiered in 2025 during the jubilee 60th edition of the Jazz nad Odrą festival. It is an artistic continuation of the spiritual inspirations found in Baron's earlier albums: Bogurodzica, Salve Regina, Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, and Kaddish. This latest original project is a personal, meditative work grounded in the experience of a mature artist. Baron develops his distinctive musical language, blending modern jazz with a reflective, spiritual narrative.
The title, “Ring and Scapular” (Polish: “Pierścień i szkaplerz”), evokes ideas of covenant, care, memory, and faith. The music leads through spaces of contemplation and focus, recalling the spiritual current in jazz associated with John Coltrane and his A Love Supreme.
Practical information: the concert takes place on January 29, 2027, at 7:00 PM.
