The Doll

Warsaw, late 19th century. Stanisław Wokulski's heart is consumed by an obsessive love for Izabela Łęcka. Having made a fortune during the war, he returns home and resolves to enter high society to win her hand. She is dazzling and aloof, but despite her aristocratic background, she struggles with the threat of financial ruin. At Wokulski's side is his loyal friend, Ignacy Rzecki, a romantic who watches with nostalgia as the world of ideals gives way to social ambition and ruthless business interests. This is a story of infatuation that changes the characters' lives and blurs the line between heart and reason.
