“Viennese Concert ‘In the Land of the Csárdás and Enchanting Gypsy Songs’, Part 2” is a music and dance program. Performing will be Agata Sava (mezzo-soprano), Maryjan Lomaha (solo violin), Nazar Tatsyshyn (tenor), classical ballet dancers, and the Royal Chamber Orchestra conducted by Woytek Mrozek. The event listing also describes the orchestra as the international Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the only one in Poland.
The concert is a musical journey. It begins in Old Vienna and shows how composers such as Strauss, Lehár, and Kálmán were drawn to Romani folklore. In the second part of the evening, listeners travel with a Romani caravan through various countries and cultures of Europe, including Austria, Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Balkans, Spain, and Italy. The program features violin paraphrases and fantasies by Maryjan Lomaha, songs by Agata Sava and Nazar Tatsyshyn, and dance by ballet soloists.
The program includes works by J. Strauss, F. Lehár, I. Kálmán, F. Kreisler, V. Monti, J. Brahms, and G. Bizet, as well as original paraphrases by Artur Banaszkiewicz, including Countess Maritza’s Csárdás and Monti’s Csárdás. Organizers also promise “many other musical surprises.”
