“Through the Wall” | Polish Cinema Day

“Through the Wall,” directed by Maciej Sobieszczański, is a Polish production from 2026. The film will be screened on 11 November 2026 at 15:15 in Sala Lwów at Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe in Wrocław, as part of Polish Cinema Day.

The story begins in November 1947. Wiesława Pajdak is arrested for her activity in the anti-communist underground and taken to prison on Rakowiecka. A few days later, Jerzy Śmiechowski is transferred to the neighboring cell. One night, the two begin talking through the wall in Morse code. As hard as it may be to believe, that is how they met.

At the Festival of Feature Films, the film received, among other awards:

• the Grand Prize of FPFF – Golden Lions,
• the Award of the Association of Art House Cinemas (the film was classified as art house),
• the Journalists’ Award,
• the “Don Kichot” Award of the Polish Federation of Film Discussion Clubs – the Award of Festivals and Polish Film Reviews Abroad.
