On November 21, pianist Laura de los Ángeles, for whom the piano is the main flamenco instrument, will perform at the Sala Witrażowa of Stary Klasztor. The concert features an intimate dialogue between piano, cello, and cajón, built on Andalusian expression, lyrical melodies, and rhythm. On stage:
This will not be a classical piano recital or a reconstruction of a traditional tablao. The piano takes the lead, at times sounding percussive and dynamic, at others subtle and almost vocal. The cello adds warm, deep phrasing, and the cajón provides a distinct Andalusian pulse. The sparse lineup lets the audience focus on the conversation between the instruments, the nuances of the melodies, and the shifting energy of flamenco rhythms. The performance is aimed at flamenco enthusiasts, lovers of piano music and jazz, and anyone interested in contemporary interpretations of Spanish music.
Laura de los Ángeles was born in Seville and grew up in a musical environment. She began her education at the conservatory in Triana. She combines a pianist's sensitivity with an understanding of compás, the rhythmic heart of flamenco. Her debut album, “El Callejón del Agua,” earned a nomination for Best Flamenco Album at the Spanish Premios de la Música and reached the finals of the Flamenco Hoy competition for Best Instrumental Album. She has performed in Spain and abroad, collaborated with flamenco singers and guitarists, and appeared at the Bienal de Flamenco festival in Seville in 2010. In 2024 she released her third album, “Alejandro en mis manos,” in which she translated the music of Alejandro Sanz into her own flamenco piano language.
The concert is part of the 4th Miasto Krasnali Flamenco Festival, which showcases different faces of contemporary and traditional flamenco. The festival program includes concerts, workshops, and a mini market inspired by Spanish culture.
