“Wild Horse Nine”

Wild Horse Nine is a political thriller with dark humor directed by Martin McDonagh. John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell star as two CIA agents.

The story unfolds shortly before the 1973 coup in Chile. CIA agents Chris and Lee are sent by their boss, MJ, from Santiago to Easter Island. In the shadow of the island's famous statues, the longtime partners must confront a dark past and conspiracies that begin to come to light. Chris's new bond with two rebellious students threatens to send everyone's stay in this remote paradise out of control.

The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The audience there gave a standing ovation lasting 13 minutes. 72-year-old John Malkovich, the lead actor, wiped away tears of emotion. Critics have called his performance “the role of a lifetime” and predict an Oscar for him.
