Directed by Nathan Fielder, creator of “The Rehearsal” and “The Curse,” and Lance Oppenheim, author of “Primetime” with Robert Pattinson. According to the description, the film blurs the line between fiction and reality and defies genre conventions. It is billed as the cinematic event of the year and a strong Oscar contender.
The subject is Elizabeth Holmes, founder of Theranos, dubbed “the female Steve Jobs.” She was sentenced to 11 years in prison for one of Silicon Valley’s biggest frauds. Thirty-four days before she begins her sentence, comedian and provocateur Nathan Fielder enters her life. He moves into her home to observe Holmes’s last moments of freedom. She insists she is innocent and promises that Fielder’s camera will reveal a truth that will shock the world. She says only two words: “You’ll see everything.”
The film asks what in this game is sincere confession and what is another deception. Before the screening, viewers are advised not to read comments and to avoid gossip and spoilers.
