A granite fountain from 1858 between the church and town hall in Bolków, with a sandstone replica of a boy reading the Bible.
The Angel Fountain in Bolków stands on the square between the Catholic church and the town hall. It is an oval fountain made of grey granite, built in 1858.
Originally the fountain was topped with a tin figure of a boy about 115 centimetres tall, holding an open Bible in his right hand, with his left hand resting on the pages of the book. At his feet stood a tin basin about 95 centimetres in diameter and 33 centimetres high.
The fountain originally stood close to the Catholic church, from the time when Bolków Castle belonged to the Cistercians. Count Hoym moved it to its present location, between the church and the town hall, and Henriette Kramsta covered the costs of the move.
The original tin figure of the boy went missing around 1948-1951. In 1982 the plinth was encased in stone, creating a new fountain basin. In 2001 a sandstone replica of the figure was put up, and a twin figure was placed in 2005 in the twin town of Borken.
A few minutes' walk from here stands the castle in Bolków, and within a few kilometres you can also see Świny Castle and the viewpoint on Józkowa Góra.
