An 18th-century baroque palace in Bełcz Wielki, closed and secured for conservation work after a roof fire in 2016.
Bełcz Wielki Palace is a historic residence in the Niechlów municipality, in Góra County, entered in the heritage register under number A/3711/1235.
The palace was built in the 18th century in the baroque style. In 1910 it underwent a major rebuilding. Among its historical owners, sources mention the von Kalkereuth and Schönborn families, and, from 1898, Ludwig Adolph Theodor Dürr.
After the Second World War an agricultural school operated in the building, and from the 1970s a facility and care centre for children with intellectual disabilities, later for children with behavioural disorders. The facility operated until 1997.
On 15 May 2016 the roof of the historic palace burned down. In July 2023 the site was bought by private investors. Clean-up and conservation work is underway, and the building is closed and secured. Visiting the interior is not possible; the palace can only be viewed from outside.
Within a few kilometres of the palace are other historic residences of the region, including the Leszkowice Manor House, the Miechów Manor House and the Karów Manor House, as well as the Skarpa Storczyków Nature Reserve.
