Bierkowice Manor

About Bierkowice Manor

A 19th-century manor in Bierkowice in the Kłodzko region, today the seat of a primary school.

Bierkowice Manor, in the village of Bierkowice in Kłodzko County, stands in the lower part of the village, at the junction of voivodeship road no. 381 with the road to Łączna.

Construction and the first owners

The present building was erected after 1840 on the initiative of Charlotte von Zedlitz-Neukirch, on the site of an earlier manor that existed here in the 18th century. After Charlotte's death the estate passed to her daughter Florentine von Zastrow, and then remained in the hands of the Zastrow family's heirs until the 1920s.

Architecture

The manor is a two-storey, rectangular building topped with a hip roof of shallow pitch. On the eastern side it is distinguished by a columned portico with a viewing terrace. Around it, remnants of the former park with monumental trees have survived, and in front of the estate's fence stands a 19th-century crucifixion group with folk art features.

Current use

For a long time the manor building has housed a primary school, so touring the interior is not possible - it is an active educational facility, not a museum.
