A forest nature reserve in Kunice municipality protecting a fragment of the former Legnica Forest with rare plants, not open to visitors.
The Błyszcz Nature Reserve is a forest reserve in Kunice municipality, in Legnica County, protecting a small fragment of near-natural forest that survives from the former Legnica Forest.
The reserve was established by an ordinance of the Lower Silesian Voivode on 5 January 2001. It covers an area of 54.46 hectares. The purpose of protection is to preserve, for natural, scientific, educational and landscape reasons, oak-hornbeam forests, riparian forests and alder carrs with rich and unique flora.
The largest area is taken up by forest habitats: Central European oak-hornbeam forests and ash-alder riparian forests, accompanied on a small area by damp woodland meadows with thistle and purple moor grass. A small stream flows through the reserve. Many rare and protected vascular plants grow here, including the marsh helleborine, known from only a few sites in Lower Silesia, as well as the violet helleborine, adder's-tongue fern, imbricate gladiolus, Siberian iris, globeflower, spring snowflake, lesser butterfly-orchid and bird's-nest orchid.
The reserve has no protection plan, but conservation tasks are in force, which mean the area is subject to active protection. The site has not been made available for visitors, as no marked tourist trail or educational path runs through it.
