About Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Studzionki

An active Orthodox church in Studzionki, built as a chapel at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and extended between 1989 and 1991.

In the small village of Studzionki, in the Rudna municipality, in Lubin County, stands an Orthodox church that for most of its history was only a modest chapel. It was only extended to its present form - an active Orthodox church with three domes - towards the end of the 20th century.

From chapel to church

The building dates from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when it was built as a small chapel. The church owes its current, considerably larger shape to an extension carried out between 1989 and 1991. Today it is a brick church topped by three domes, next to which stands a free-standing bell tower.

An iconostasis from Tomaszów Mazowiecki

Inside is an iconostasis dating from the 19th century, brought to Studzionki from Tomaszów Mazowiecki. It gives the interior a character typical of Orthodox churches, in contrast to the modest brick structure on the outside.

The parish today

The Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian is an active place of worship, administered by the Diocese of Wrocław and Szczecin of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church, within the Lubin deanery. The parish's patrons are Saints Cosmas and Damian, commemorated in the Orthodox calendar on 1 and 14 November.
