An active filial church in Rożnów, first mentioned in 1335, Protestant from 1534, Catholic again since 1972.
The Church of St Maximilian Maria Kolbe in Rożnów, in the Przeworno municipality, is a brick church with a single tower. The first mentions of a church on this site date back to 1335, and today it functions as a filial church of the parish in Gałązczyce.
The earliest records of a church in Rożnów go back to 1335. In 1534 the building passed into Protestant hands and served as a Protestant church for several centuries. In 1870 a sacristy was added and an organ installed, and in 1889 the old tower was demolished and a new one built from scratch.
The church was partly destroyed during the Second World War. After years of reconstruction, Roman Catholic liturgy resumed in 1972, and the church itself was consecrated in 1984.
The church in Rożnów functions as a filial church of the parish of Our Lady Queen of the World and St Martin in Gałązczyce, in the Grodków deanery of the Diocese of Opole. It is active, so services are held there regularly, though it is worth checking the times directly with the parish before visiting.
