A Greek Catholic church at Wrocławska Street 180 in Legnica, built between 1998 and 2008.
The Church of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Legnica is a church of the Greek Catholic parish, standing at Wrocławska Street 180. Unlike many Lower Silesian Orthodox churches that arose from the adaptation of former Protestant churches, this building was erected from scratch as a modern church, between 1998 and 2008, to a design by Jacek Mermon.
Inside the church there is a modern iconostasis, that is, a screen of icons separating the sanctuary from the main nave, characteristic of churches of the Eastern rite.
The Greek Catholic parish in Legnica has existed since 1957 and belongs to the Eparchy of Wrocław-Koszalin. It is one of the pastoral centres of the Byzantine-Ukrainian rite in Lower Silesia, where many faithful of this denomination settled after Operation Vistula.
