A Baroque Evangelical-Augsburg church from 1774-1777 in Cieplice, a district of Jelenia Góra, today a parish church and a venue for summer organ concerts.
The Church of the Saviour stands at Plac Piastowski 18 in Cieplice Śląskie-Zdrój, a district of Jelenia Góra. It is an 18th-century Evangelical-Augsburg church, serving the same religious community since it was built.
The church was built between 1774 and 1777 to a design by Demus of Jelenia Góra. It was consecrated in 1777. The building is in the Baroque style, has a single-nave layout with emporas, that is galleries for the congregation running along the walls, and the whole is covered by a broken, hipped roof.
The interior has retained its Baroque-Classicist furnishings: an altar and a pulpit, and an organ placed on one of the emporas. The layout of the interior corresponds to the typical arrangement of Protestant churches of the period, in which the altar, pulpit and organ focus the congregation's attention on a single axis.
The Church of the Saviour is the parish church of an Evangelical-Augsburg parish belonging to the Wrocław diocese of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland. In summer it is sometimes the venue for organ concerts, using the instrument installed on the empora. The building is listed in the heritage register under number A/2031/1136, entered on 10 October 1964.
Nearby it is also worth visiting the Schaffgotsch Palace in Cieplice and the St John the Baptist's Church in Jelenia Góra-Cieplice, and a few hundred metres further on lies the Spa Park.
