About Dziób

A twin-peaked summit in the Central Sudetes (Zawory range) at around 693 and 686 m above sea level, covered by spruce forest.

Dziób is a twin-peaked summit in the Central Sudetes, in the Zawory range, in Wałbrzych County, near Łączna and Mieroszów.

Height and structure

The summit has two peaks with heights of around 693 and 686 metres above sea level. The upper part is built of Upper Cretaceous sandstones and mudstones, while the lower parts consist of red arkose and greywacke sandstones from the Triassic period. In the northern part there are natural rock outcrops of these red sandstones as well as small, abandoned quarries.

Vegetation

The whole massif is covered by a uniform spruce forest, effectively a spruce monoculture. The forest on the northern peak was thinned out a few years ago and the area is now becoming overgrown with young spruces and birches.
