An abandoned palace of the von Richthofen family from 1615 in the village of Goczałków Górny, destroyed by fire in 2007, not open to visitors.
Goczałków Górny Palace is a historic, abandoned residence in the village of Goczałków Górny, in the municipality of Strzegom, in Świdnica County. The palace-and-park complex is entered in the heritage register. The building stands empty and is not open to visitors.
The palace's origins go back to 1615, when the residence was built by Baron von Schliewitz. In 1699 the estate passed to Johann Praetorius von Richthofen and belonged for generations to successive branches of this noble family. The building was rebuilt at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, and the largest rebuilding was carried out in 1889 by Karl von Richthofen-Damsdorf and his wife Margarethe, in a neo-Gothic and eclectic style, with a painted family tree, coats of arms and wrought-iron grilles in the ground-floor windows.
In 2007 a fire consumed the palace, leaving little more than the walls. The roof was only repaired provisionally, and the building has stood empty and decaying ever since. After the Second World War the estate was managed first by an agricultural administration, then by a stud farm in Strzegom, and today the site belongs to the Institute of Fertilisers, Goczałków Experimental Farm.
