A historic hunting castle from 1806 built as an artificial ruin on Grodna Mountain in the Łomnica Hills, renovated in 2015-2016.
The Castle on Grodna Mountain is a historic hunting castle built in the form of an artificial ruin, standing on the highest peak of the Łomnica Hills in the Karkonosze (Giant Mountains).
The building was constructed in 1806 as a hunting lodge, designed from the outset with the intention of looking like an old castle ruin rather than a new building. It was built of stone.
The castle is entered in the register of immovable heritage monuments under number A/1070, registered in 2008. In the monument's documentation its function is described explicitly as an artificial ruin.
Between 2015 and 2016 the castle underwent renovation and was opened to visitors. The exact scope of the work and the current accessibility of the interior are not described in the available sources.
The castle lies within the Podgórzyn municipality, in the Karkonosze, not far from other regional monuments, including Chojnik Castle and Wang Temple. Nearby is also the Norwegian Park in Cieplice Śląskie-Zdrój, and for families with children, ZOObaczysko.
