About Jawor

A mountain 830 m above sea level in the Śnieżnik Massif, within the Śnieżnik Landscape Park, with a trail to Przełęcz Puchacza.

Jawor is a mountain with a summit at 830 metres above sea level, in the Śnieżnik Massif in the Sudetes, within the Śnieżnik Landscape Park, above Międzygórze. The former German name of the peak was Urnitzberg, and after 1945 the name Jawornica was also used.

Geology and summit

The summit is built of gneiss rocks belonging to the Lądek-Śnieżnik metamorphic complex. The summit area has a broad, flattened top with a weakly marked culmination, and the peak itself is bare, while the slopes are covered with spruce-beech forest of the lower montane zone.

Trails and skiing

A yellow-marked hiking trail runs over the peak from Międzygórze to Przełęcz Puchacza, and a yellow cycling trail links the Wilczka Waterfall with Nowa Wieś. Jawor's slopes are used for skiing, with two ski lifts operating on the western and north-eastern slopes.

Practical information

  • The peak lies above Międzygórze, in Kłodzko County.
  • The approach follows the yellow hiking trail from Międzygórze.
  • Close to the summit lies the Wilczka Waterfall.
  • A few kilometres further rises Śnieżnik.
