The ruin of a manor house from 1602 in the village of Kamień near Gryfów Śląski, in the Mirsk municipality, with surviving vaults inside its walls.
Kamień Manor stands in the village of Kamień near Gryfów Śląski, in the Mirsk municipality, in Lwówek County. It is the ruin of a former manor house from the early 17th century, part of a larger manor farm complex.
The building was erected in 1602, as shown by the date and inscription on the semicircular portico: "Johanis Elsner Oberförster". Its founder was Johannes Elsner, a forester in the service of the von Schaffgotsch family. The manor house has a rectangular plan with two corner bay recesses at the front, and was built of stone with brick reinforcements and extensions.
The building underwent further rebuildings in the 18th century, between 1850 and 1875, and in the 1980s. During the last of these the eastern turret was demolished and buttresses were added to the walls.
The building is today a ruin. It has retained two storeys and a partial cellar, and inside, barrel and groin vaults supported on octagonal pillars have survived. After the Second World War it was settled by resettlers from beyond the eastern border, part of the premises later became private property, and most of the site belongs to the municipality.
The manor house, together with the manor farm complex, was entered in the voivodeship register of heritage sites in 2000, and the ruin itself was separately included in the municipal record of heritage sites in 2020.
Nearby it is worth seeing the GEOPARK - St John's Mine in Krobica and the attractions of Świeradów-Zdrój, including the Devil's Mill and the Spa Park, and a little further away, Gryf Castle.
