A city square in the Powstańców Śląskich estate in Wrocław, home to the Lower Silesian Oncology Centre.
Ludwik Hirszfeld Square lies in the Powstańców Śląskich estate, in the Krzyki district of Wrocław, at the junction of Krucza and Zaporoska streets.
The square is named after Ludwik Hirszfeld (1884-1954), a doctor, microbiologist and immunologist born in Warsaw, who died in Wrocław.
The square is home to the Lower Silesian Oncology Centre, housed partly in the buildings of the former Provincial Insurance Institution Hospital, which survived the wartime destruction. There is also a commercial and service building here, part of which, until 2006, was cantilevered over Zaporoska Street as it crosses the square; that part was demolished.
