A 14th-15th-century castle ruin on a rocky spur in the Kaczawskie Mountains, by the village of Płonina on the Trail of Piast Castles.
Niesytno Castle stands on a rocky spur at an altitude of about 550 m above sea level, on the eastern ridge of the Kaczawskie Mountains, in the village of Płonina west of Bolków. It lies on the Trail of Piast Castles. The site is a ruin, entered in the register of heritage sites.
The castle was first mentioned in sources in 1432. Its construction began in the 14th century and was completed in the 15th century. From the 1430s the seat was probably held by members of the von Zedlitz family, who lived in the castle until the mid-17th century. The castle lost its role as a residence in 1545, when the same family built a manor house decorated with Renaissance stonework nearby, to the east of it.
In 1843 the castle ruins were bought by Count Julius von Bülow, who secured them and carried out a thorough conservation. At the start of the 20th century the estate was acquired by Count Eberhard von Saurma, Baron von Jeltsch, who restored the upper castle and opened it to visitors.
Niesytno Castle remains a ruin. Since 2012 work has been under way clearing rubble and reconstructing the residential building within the medieval castle grounds. Because of the ongoing work and the nature of the site, the current state of access and visiting rules should be checked before travelling, for example with the Bolków municipality, in whose territory the castle lies.
