A wooden pavilion in the Norwegian style in Norwegian Park in Cieplice, a former restaurant and museum, today a restaurant again.
The Norwegian Pavilion is a wooden building in Norwegian Park in Cieplice, part of Jelenia Góra. It was built in the early 20th century in a style modelled on Norwegian architecture, and today houses a restaurant.
The pavilion was built on the initiative of Eugen Füllner, the owner of a paper machine factory, who was inspired by Norwegian architecture and the Frognerseteren restaurant near Oslo. The building is wooden, kept in a folk style.
Until the 1950s a restaurant operated in the pavilion. Later, from 1967 to 2013, it housed the Natural History Museum. After many years the building returned to its original role: a restaurant was reopened in the pavilion, restoring the function it had held decades earlier.
The pavilion is entered in the register of immovable heritage monuments. It stands in Norwegian Park in Cieplice-Zdrój, so a walk through the park naturally leads to its door. Nearby, on the same street, are also the Cieplice Thermal Baths.
