About Nowak

A wooded summit 700 m above sea level in the Śnieżnik Massif above Goworów, with rock formations above the Goworówka valley.

Nowak is a summit 700 metres above sea level in the Śnieżnik Massif, rising above the village of Goworów, the Goworówka river valley and the Upper Nysa Trench, within the Śnieżnik Landscape Park. It was formerly called Neutzlerberg or Nowacka Kopa.

A point on the ridge

Nowak is one of the points on a side ridge that runs from the neighbouring Goworek through Gawlik all the way to Pątnik, so it is rarely visited as a destination in its own right.

Rock formations above the Goworówka

The summit is built of Śnieżnik gneisses of the Lądek-Śnieżnik metamorphic complex, which above the Goworówka valley form a series of picturesque rock formations. The whole is covered by lower montane spruce forest.

Practical information

  • Location: the Śnieżnik Massif, above Goworów, Kłodzko County
  • Getting there: from the village of Goworów
  • What to expect: a wooded ridge with rock formations above the Goworówka valley; the sources give no marked trail to the summit or viewpoint, so it is worth checking the route on a tourist map before setting out; also nearby is Mały Śnieżnik
