A floristic nature reserve of 5.15 ha in the Oder valley near Lubiąż, created in 1987 to protect rare aquatic plants.
Odrzysko Nature Reserve is a floristic nature reserve covering 5.15 hectares, lying in the Oder valley between Lubiąż and Gliniany, in the Wołów municipality. It was created on 18 February 1987 by an order of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.
The reserve was created above all to protect a population of the rare water chestnut, rootless duckweed and the floating water fern salvinia, as well as other rare protected plant species and natural forest communities.
The site extends for about 3 kilometres along the river valley, on the right bank of its channel, about a kilometre north-west of Lubiąż. It includes the bank of the Oder with a high escarpment, oak-hornbeam forest, riparian forest dominated by elm-ash riparian forest, and pine forest. Within its boundaries lies an old channel of the Oder - a shallow reservoir about 800 metres long and about 30 metres wide, which shrinks considerably and dries up during droughts.
About 40 breeding bird species have been recorded in the reserve, including species threatened with extinction. The old channel of the Oder is home to mute swans, goldeneyes and kingfishers, marsh harriers hunt here, and middle spotted woodpeckers nest in the forest. Beavers and otters also live here, badgers nest on the hornbeam-covered escarpment, and the reserve is a refuge for bats, including Daubenton's bat and the noctule. During the breeding season, moor frogs, fire-bellied toads, European tree frogs and great crested newts can be found here.
The reserve lies within the Wołów Forest District and within the Natura 2000 areas PLB020008 and PLH020018 Łęgi Odrzańskie.
Closest, about 3.4 kilometres away, is the Cistercian Abbey in Lubiąż. Nearby also lies another nature reserve, the Brekinia Nature Reserve, and the Łęg Korea Nature Reserve.
