About Ostroga

A summit of the Śląski Grzbiet ridge in the Karkonosze, 1090 m above sea level, with the red tourist trail passing below the top.

Ostroga is a summit in the Karkonosze, in the western part of the Śląski Grzbiet ridge, rising to 1090 m above sea level. It lies in the municipality of Piechowice, on the border of the Karkonosze National Park.

A granite dome

The summit is built of Karkonosze granite. Its surface is covered by a scatter of granite boulders, and the slopes are covered by spruce forest.

A trail below the top

No marked path leads to the very top of Ostroga. The red tourist trail passes below the summit, linking the shelter at Łabski Szczyt with the junction below Wielki Szyszak. This is a popular ridge route on the western side of the Karkonosze, from which it is worth making a detour to the summit itself.
