Our Lady Queen of Poland Church in Jelcz-Laskowice

Jelcz-Laskowice
About Our Lady Queen of Poland Church in Jelcz-Laskowice

A former Protestant parish church from the late 19th century in the Jelcz district, with a surviving mechanical organ.

The Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland stands in the Jelcz district of Jelcz-Laskowice, in Oława County. It is a Roman Catholic parish church belonging to the Jelcz-Laskowice deanery of the Archdiocese of Wrocław, located on Ogrodowa Street.

The building's Protestant past

The brick church was built after 1880 as a Protestant congregation building. Until the end of the 19th century, services were held there in Polish, which was not the norm in Silesia at the time. It only became a Catholic church later, after 1945, when the state affiliation of this land changed.

The organ inside the church

The interior retains an organ with mechanical key and stop action, fitted with two keyboards. Sources do not give the builder's name or the number of stops.
