A seasonal maize maze in Pełczyce with a GPS and QR-code escape-room-style field game, over 7 hectares with more than 4 km of paths.
The Pełczyce maize maze covers 7 hectares of field, and the paths laid out within it total more than 4 kilometres. This is no ordinary wandering between cornstalks - the venue works as a location-based escape room using GPS, so a phone becomes part of the fun from the first step.
Participants move along the route and scan QR codes placed at checkpoints along the way. Each scanned code opens a question, and correct answers count towards the ranking kept for that season.
The questions are divided into four thematic blocks: general knowledge, agriculture, fairy tales - in the version for younger participants - and facts about Lower Silesia. This split allows the difficulty level to be matched to the age of the group, though the venue's website does not specify whether the routes for children and adults differ.
Pełczyce lies along the way between several other spots worth visiting in Wrocław County. The nearest, less than 3 kilometres away, is the Museum of Carriages and Harnesses in Galowice, and in the same area, on the street with the same name as the access road to the maze, there is also the Magnice Palace.
