Entertainment in Wrocław and Lower Silesia: escape rooms, go-karts, paintball, shooting ranges and bowling for an evening out or a rainy day.

This list gathers places you go to for a game, with friends, with little planning: escape rooms, karting tracks, paintball fields, shooting ranges, bowling alleys and venues with games. It differs from sport and recreation in that the point here is fun and a bit of competition for one evening rather than regular training. Below we suggest what to pick in the city, what to try outside it, what suits children and how to organise a day for a bigger group.

What can you do in Wrocław in the evening besides dinner?

Pick a venue where you play with a drink in hand rather than just sit. Zagrywki is an activity bar near the centre, close to the Wrocław Opera and the National Forum of Music. You can play table shuffleboard, eleven-hole mini golf, darts and beer pong, or sing karaoke. The bar serves signature cocktails and pizza.

Another idea is Sky Games on the second floor of Sky Tower on Powstańców Śląskich Street. Its five main attractions are the interactive SKY PIXEL games, SKY GOLF mini golf, darts, billiards and shuffleboard, and there is a bar with pizza and cocktails. Note the age rules: after 6 pm only adults and young people aged 16 to 18 under constant adult supervision may stay.

The same building houses Sky Bowling, which describes itself as the largest bowling alley in the city. It has packages for companies, families, groups of friends, schools and day camps, a bar with soups and burgers, and online lane booking.

Which escape room should you choose?

Choose by who you are taking. For a bigger crowd, EXIT19.PL has thirteen rooms in three central locations: fantasy, horror, a historical mystery set in Wrocław, a science-fiction time-travel room and an action room.

Let Me Out on Bernardyńska Street has six rooms: Sherlock Holmes, Wonderland, Death Penalty, Psychiatric Ward, Prison and The Secret of the Forest Book. Each game lasts 60 minutes, the venue can host up to 30 people at once, and games run in Polish and in English. That makes it a good pick if someone in your group does not speak Polish.

Secret Room & Brain Code in the Old Town, near the Market Square, offers logic games of 60 or 90 minutes for groups of two to five, and up to six in the room called Prosektorium. If you prefer puzzles in the open air, look for Folwark Szyfrów in Ławica in the Kłodzko county: teams walk around a former farmstead, solve logic and hands-on puzzles and collect gold coins, while the story travels through successive periods of Lower Silesian history.

Where can you drive go-karts?

Wrocław has several tracks. Le Mans on Śląska Avenue is the flagship of the chain, described by the organiser as the largest and widest track of all its Polish locations, with many turns and a slalom. It has been running without a break for fifteen years.

TOP1 KARTING in Muchobór Wielki joins an indoor hall to an outdoor section and offers more than 850 metres of track, 650 of them indoors, over varied terrain. The karts have lap timing. Juniors must be at least 135 centimetres tall, and less experienced or younger drivers can ride in tandem.

For the youngest there is Crazy Carts in the Auchan Bielany shopping centre: electric drift karts on a 250-square-metre track, from age four, with a driver weight limit of 90 kilograms. Outside Wrocław, the M3Racing karting track in Świdnica at Westerplatte 56 records laps with live timing and takes online bookings.

Paintball: which field for which group?

Choose paintball by the age of the players and whether you prefer forest or a purpose-built field. CityPaintball in the Zacisze-Zalesie-Szczytniki district has five themed fields for players from 13, a Gotcha variant for children aged 7 to 12 with reduced impact, plus arrowtag, which is archery tag, and CrashBall, which is football played in inflatable balls. Those not playing get a relaxation area from which to watch the match.

Fort Przygody in Sołtysowice is a base for organised events: paintball on several fields for a group of up to 90 at once, plus quad bikes, rope bridges over water, pontoon and kayak trips and orienteering games.

Outside the city, Paintball Terytorium in Pierwoszów, open since 1999, and PaintballBros in Ozorowice use forest terrain; at PaintballBros each player gets 500 paintballs, a marker and protective gear, and games follow tactical scenarios. Woodspot in Siemianice is a site of over ten hectares with two natural arenas, a campsite, fishing and playgrounds. The region also has a field in Serby near Głogów, with bunkers and former fortifications, and PROSHOT from Pisarzowice, which travels with mobile services.

Shooting ranges: for beginners and for licensed shooters

Many ranges accept people without a firearms licence under an instructor's supervision. In Wrocław, COLT Shooting Range on Kwidzyńska Street is an indoor facility with twelve lit stations, targets set between 10 and 25 metres, and a competition once a month. It runs courses for beginners.

Outside the city, Strefa Celu in Łowęcice, about 12 km from Wrocław, has fifteen independent lanes, each with its own shelter, and people without a licence can use a range officer after contacting the range by phone beforehand. Warrior Academy in Zębice combines an air-gun range with axe throwing and a café, and instructors teach safety rules before the first shot.

In the mountains, the range in the Old Factory in Miłków near Karpacz works all year in a former factory building, and children may shoot from age seven. In Świebodzice, the Walkiria range has lanes for different levels and courses for people without a firearms licence. Near Zgorzelec you will find FORT in Mała Wieś Dolna with three shooting axes. Traditional tournaments take place at the Bracka range in Jelcz-Laskowice, and the PZŁ range in Dobrzejów near Legnica has SKEET and TRAP stations.

Where can you bowl with family and friends?

Bowling is a safe bet when it rains. Besides Sky Bowling in Wrocław, look at the alleys in Lubin. Kręgielnia RCS, at the Regional Sports Centre, has six lanes for classic skittles and ten-pin bowling, four ramps for the youngest and for people with disabilities, two billiard tables, three air-hockey tables and two table-football tables. Bowling Club Lubin has eight Qubica AMF lanes with bumpers that can be raised, plus a pizzeria and a bar.

Smaller alleys include Kręgielnia w Starej Piekarni in Godzikowice near Oława, with lanes and billiard tables; the alley in Jerzmanowa, with two lanes for adults and two mini-lanes for children; and Klub Regeneracja in Lubań, which has new machines and visual effects after modernisation. In Godzikowice you book by phone or email.

What about children, golf and unusual ideas?

With children, pick places with entry ages for the youngest. Crazy Carts takes children from four, and Gotcha at CityPaintball is for ages 7 to 12. A family attraction is Niedźwiedzia Chata in Boguszyn: a model of the Kłodzko Land of about 2,000 square metres with miniature replicas of regional sights and a mini-golf course.

For adults who prefer something calmer there is Wrocław Golf Club in Kryniczno in the Trzebnica county, some kilometres from the centre: 18-hole and 9-hole courses, golf simulators for bad weather, and a restaurant. The Palace in Brzeźno, from 1850, is now a hotel with a spa and a golf course. Looking for sightseeing instead of games? Open the attractions of Wrocław.

How do you organise a group evening or team event?

Start with the number of people. For a few, an escape room or bowling is enough; for a dozen or so, paintball on several fields; for an even bigger group, a site such as Fort Przygody, which takes up to ninety people at once. Many places hire out the venue for events, such as Kręgielnia RCS as a whole or the Crazy Carts track for birthdays.

Before you go, book a slot and check age rules and any height or weight limits, especially at Sky Games after 6 pm and on karting tracks.
