A 19th-century eclectic palace in Polanka near Legnica, today home to a primary school, surrounded by the remains of a park.
Polanka Palace is a 19th-century building in the small village of Polanka, in the Ruja municipality, Legnica County. Today it houses a primary school, and its surroundings are the remains of a former park.
The palace was erected in the second half of the 19th century in an eclectic style, combining elements of various architectural trends. Together with the park it forms a palace-and-park complex entered on the heritage register - the palace in 1986, the park four years earlier.
Today the building houses a primary school, and fragments of the former park have survived around it. This is a fate similar to many other Lower Silesian palaces: after a change of owners, the building was taken over by public institutions, in this case education.
A few kilometres away, in Legnickie Pole, you can see the Museum of the Battle of Legnica.
At a similar distance stands another Lower Silesian residence - the palace in Janowice.
