The Public Library of the Town and Municipality of Strzegom, named after Eliza Orzeszkowa, with branches in six villages of the municipality and a digital archive of local chronicles.
The Public Library of the Town and Municipality of Strzegom bears the name of Eliza Orzeszkowa and covers the whole municipality. Besides its headquarters on Świdnicka Street, it runs a network of branches in nearby villages as well as a digital catalogue accessible from home.
Besides the main headquarters, the library runs branches in Goczałków, Olszany, Jaroszów, Kostrza, Stanowice and Żółkiewka. Thanks to this, residents of the villages in the municipality of Strzegom do not have to travel to the town for every borrowed book.
The branch provides an online catalogue as well as digital archives of local chronicles, including digitised annual volumes of the newspaper "Gazeta Dla Wszystkich". This makes it possible to browse the history of Strzegom and the surrounding villages without leaving home.
For families with small children the library runs the "I'm Growing in the Library" and "Mum and Me in the Library" programmes, as well as the "House of Tales" series. Older young people can join the manga fan club, and there is a separate seniors' club for adult readers. The branch also provides Braille readers for people who are blind or have low vision and organises literary competitions.
The library stands in the centre of Strzegom, right next to the Basilica of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and the Chamber of Tradition of the Strzegom Land. A walk will also take you to Góra Krzyżowa.
