Zapusta
About Rajsko Castle

A 19th-century artificial ruin on the bank of the Kwisa in the village of Zapusta, built from architectural details taken from the ruins of nearby churches and palaces.

Rajsko Castle is an artificial ruin on the high right bank of the Kwisa, in the village of Zapusta.

A structure that was never a castle

The ruin was built between 1875 and 1878, on an idea by and commissioned by Alexander von Minutoli, owner of nearby Biedrzychowice. Architectural details reused from the ruins of nearby churches and palaces were incorporated into it. The structure was rebuilt in the 21st century.

Practical information

  • The building is listed on the register of immovable heritage monuments, built of stone.
  • It is located in the village of Zapusta, in the municipality of Olszyna, Lubań County; the exact access route and accessibility are worth checking on site.
  • Two kilometres away stands the medieval Czocha Castle.
