A landscape park from 1989 covering the Rudawy Janowickie, the Sokole Mountains and the Lisie Mountains in the south of Lower Silesia, with the Bóbr river gorge.
Rudawski Landscape Park protects a mountain range in the south of Lower Silesia, between Jelenia Góra and Kamienna Góra. It was established on 16 November 1989 by resolution of the Voivodeship National Council in Jelenia Góra and lies within the municipalities of Bolków, Janowice Wielkie, Kamienna Góra, Marciszów, Mysłakowice and the towns of Jelenia Góra, Kamienna Góra and Kowary.
The park's area covers the Rudawy Janowickie together with the Sokole Mountains and the Karpnickie Hills, the Ołowiane Mountains in the Kaczawa Mountains, and the Lisie Mountains in the Kamienna Góra Valley. It protects natural mountain and river geocomplexes, and its total area is 15,705 ha, of which 8,884 ha is forest. The buffer zone covers an additional 6,600 ha.
The Bóbr river flows through the park in a gorge valley. The park's landscape features numerous rock formations built of granites, gneisses, amphibolites and greenstones, alongside meadow areas of high botanical value. 390 species of vascular plants grow here, 54 of them protected, and researchers have counted 203 species of vertebrates among the animals.
152 km of tourist trails run through the park, leading, among other places, to Bolczów Castle, the summit of Skalnik, and the Colourful Lakes. The individual peaks and monuments within the park already have their own descriptions; the key point here is that they all lie within the boundaries of a single protected area.
