A municipal park from the 1930s in the Rusinowa district of Wałbrzych, with outdoor sculptures, two ponds and revitalisation under way since 2018.
Rusinowa Municipal Park in Wałbrzych occupies the site of a former oak-hornbeam forest on Bystrzycka Street, stretching from Strzegomska Street to the junction of Noworudzka, 11 Listopada and Strzegomska streets, all the way to the Osiedle Górnicze estate in the Rusinowa district.
The park was created around 1930 on the site of a walking-style forest, covering around 27 hectares. The main entrance led from the junction of Noworudzka, 11 Listopada, Strzegomska and Świdnicka streets, where an impressive 19th-century gate still stands today. The part of the park on the Bystrzycka Street side dates back to around the 16th century and is linked to the former palace-and-park complex of the Czettritz family.
About 55 species of deciduous trees and around 10 coniferous species grow in the park, including a few exotic trees. The terrain is slightly undulating, laid out over small elevations.
More than a dozen outdoor sculptures stand in the park, next to two small ponds. In the 1980s annual flower exhibitions were held here.
The revitalisation of the park began in August 2018. Flower meadows, plantings of ornamental perennials and roses, new infrastructure with benches and lighting, and a viewpoint overlooking four sides of Wałbrzych were planned.
