Stankowa

Stankowa is the highest summit of the Grzbiet Jaworski ridge in the Owl Mountains, in the Central Sudetes, rising to 623 m above sea level over Walim. It is a domed rise, covered at the top and on the north-eastern slope by spruce-beech forest, and lower down by meadows and pastures.

German wartime adits

During the Second World War the Germans dug adits into the western slope of Stankowa as part of a defence complex, probably six workings. The workings are poorly explored: only around 500 metres of tunnels have been surveyed.

• Location: the Grzbiet Jaworski ridge in the Owl Mountains, over Walim, Wałbrzych County
• Getting there: on foot from Walim; within a radius of a few kilometres lie Grodno Castle and the Riese Włodarz underground complex
• What to expect: a wooded, domed rise with no developed viewpoint; the adits are not open for visiting
