A historic 16th-century palace of the Rehdiger family in Strzeszów, in the Wisznia Mała municipality, listed in the heritage register together with its park.
Strzeszów Palace is a historic 16th-century seat standing in the village of Strzeszów in the Wisznia Mała municipality, in Trzebnica County. Together with the surrounding park it forms a palace complex listed in the heritage register.
The palace grew out of a manor that had earlier belonged to the Dukes of Oleśnica. In 1559 the estate was purchased from the Duke of Oleśnica by Nicolaus II von Rehdiger, and eight years later, in 1567, he built a moated palace on the site of the former ducal manor. In 1588 the family established a fideicommissum, a hereditary entail binding the estate to the family for generations to come. The Rehdigers remained the owners of Strzeszów until 1904. The major rebuildings that shaped the building's present appearance took place in the 18th century and in the second half of the 19th century.
After 1945 the palace changed use several times. The building became the headquarters of the Soviet army command, and until 1947 it served as a Red Army hospital. After 1947 it was taken over by a state farm (PGR), which set up a community room and a kindergarten inside. This use lasted several decades and left the building in poor technical condition. Only in 1995 did a private owner take over the palace, which - as Wikipedia states - saved the building from complete ruin.
The palace, together with the surrounding park, forms a palace complex listed in the heritage register under number A/3890/450/W, with an entry dated 10 October 1980. Available sources do not state the building's current technical condition, nor whether the interiors have been open to visitors since the private owner took over in 1995. It is a private estate, not a museum with set opening hours. Several other landed-gentry residences stand in the Wisznia Mała municipality and neighbouring municipalities, including the palace in Machnice and the palace in Pęgów.
