A brick synagogue from 1848 in Brzeg Dolny, for decades serving as a Voluntary Fire Brigade station.
The Synagogue in Brzeg Dolny is a brick building from 1848. After the local Jewish community was dissolved in 1916 and the building was sold in 1926, it was converted into a fire station - and still serves this function today.
The building was erected in 1848 from brick as a house of prayer for the local Jewish community. In 1885 the synagogue was damaged by fire, after which it was rebuilt.
The Jewish community in Brzeg Dolny ceased to exist in 1916, and in 1926 the building finally passed into the hands of the town authorities, who converted it into a Fire Brigade station: garages were added on the ground floor, and an observation tower on the roof.
Today the building is plastered, has a rectangular floor plan and a gable roof. Four pinnacles at the corners of the roof survive from the original synagogue.
