About Udanin Palace

A classicist palace from 1823-1824 in Udanin, today a renovated building used by an agricultural company, not open to visitors.

Udanin Palace is a classicist residence with a historic park in the village of Udanin, in Środa County, built between 1823 and 1824.

Construction and successive owners

Construction was carried out under the direction of Julius von Richthofen. In 1845 the estate was bought by Georg Gottlob Kramsta, and after his death in 1850 it was inherited by his son, Captain Emil Kramsta.

Architecture

The building is brick-built, in a classicist style. Above the second-floor windows there are heraldic cartouches surrounded by decorative volutes with plant motifs. In the 1850s Emil Kramsta added two lower, single-storey side wings to the main body. The palace was renovated in the 1970s.

Park and farm buildings

The palace forms the centre of a larger complex: next to it stand residential and office buildings, a calf house, a stable with a coach house, a barn with a residential section, and a cowshed, dating from the mid and second half of the 19th century. The landscape park was laid out between 1840 and 1860 to a design by Eduard Petzold, with further changes introduced after 1887.

Current state

The palace building has been renovated and today serves an agricultural company. Unlike the park, the palace itself is not entered in the heritage register. The palace is not open to visitors.
