A Renaissance-Baroque palace from 1540 in Warta Bolesławiecka, privately owned, under renovation and not open to visitors.
The palace in Warta Bolesławiecka stands in the western part of the village, in the Kaczawa Foothills in the Sudetes. It was built in 1540 by Hans von Zedlitz, and over the following centuries the building combined Renaissance and Baroque style. Today it is privately owned, undergoing renovation, and not open to visitors.
The palace was erected in 1540 as a two-storey, three-wing building on a U-shaped plan, surrounded by a moat with a stone bridge. Around 1612 a north wing was added. Further renovations were carried out in 1899 and in 1913-1914. Decorative sgraffito from the 16th and 19th centuries survives on the elevations.
The estate was held in succession by the von Glaubitz, von Stiebitz and von Sommerfeld families, and passed through marriage to the von Hohberg family. It was later owned by the von Frankenberg family, and until the end of the Second World War by the von Hacke family. After 1945 the building was used by a state farm (PGR). Since 2006 the palace has had a private owner.
After 1989 the building fell into disrepair, but the current owner is renovating it and running a farm on the estate. The palace remains under reconstruction and is not open to visitors.
