An artificial elevation in Wrocław's Swojczyce district, created from a reclaimed municipal waste landfill from 1975-1995.
Wzgórze przy Ceglanej is an artificially raised elevation in the eastern part of Wrocław, in the area of the Swojczyce estate. It has the shape of a flat mound divided into two unequal parts, and its highest point reaches 134 metres above sea level, with a relative height of 10-12 metres.
This is the reclaimed Swojczyce municipal waste landfill, created in March 1975 on the site of a former clay pit. It was opened after the closure of an earlier landfill on Bardzka Street, and use of the site ended in 1995. Reclamation of the area, covering a total of 9.3 hectares, was completed in 1999.
The site is no longer subject to an entry ban, and its summit offers a panorama of the city and surrounding area. It is an ordinary, post-industrial elevation without tourist infrastructure, different from natural hills - worth keeping in mind when planning a walk.
